Written by author, Bacchus officer, and 46-year Krewe member, Robert Cangelosi Jr., to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Krewe of Bacchus, this book chronicles the club's history and the broadening of the Carnival traditions Bacchus initiated. The volume features more than 200 photographs and nearly 70,000 words of text. At 244 pages Bacchus-The Golden Anniversary, is the largest krewe book ever to published in the history of Carnival. 

Bacchus was founded in 1968 by a group of local businessmen who sought to instill new life into Carnival, which by the turbulent 1960s, had lost some of the luster of the 19th century traditions. One publication proclaimed Bacchus as "the most innovative and imitated krewe founded in the 20th century."

Bacchus was the first super krewe and the first to use big name entertainment for a post-parade party rather than a tableaux ball. The Krewe quickly became famous for its large quantity of throws. It introduced the first super floats, tandem floats, and was among the first to use Krewe signature throws. Bacchus transformed Carnival into big business and helped the celebration become a major stimulus for the city's tourism economy.
